MODEL RELEASES
A model release is always required for each and every shoot, including the test shoot,
regardless of the compensation. If the photo shoot involves a recognizable piece of
property belonging to the model, such as their pet, vehicle, or home, then a property
release is also required.
A release is a written agreement (liability waiver) between the photographer and model
being photographed (or owner of property being photographed). The release stipulates
that the model has given consent to be photographed and to the use of the images,
including commercial and advertising uses. The release protects the model by prohibiting
the use of images for defamatory or pornographic purposes.
